Czechia May 2026: Jaecoo 7 breaks into Top 10

The Jaecoo 7 is inside the Czech Top 10 for the first time in May.

20,463 new light vehicles hit Czech roads in May, a +4.8% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date tally after 5 months is up 2.9% to 103,412. Skoda (+12.4%) outpaces its home market to 35.4% share, yet this is lower than its YTD level of 37.7%. Volkswagen (+21.5%) does even better at #2 while Hyundai (-8.8%), Toyota (-20.2%) and Dacia (+14.4%) ensure the Top 5 is identical to April and YTD. The event of the month is Omoda/Jaecoo (+982.7%) up 11-fold year-on-year to shoot up 10 spots on last month to a record-breaking 6th place with 796 sales and 3.9% share, all records, with previous best being #9 with 486 sales and 2.6% share last February. BMW (+13.5%) is the only additional Top 10 member in positive.

Over in the models charts, the Skoda Octavia (-6.1%) remains on top but disappoints, whereas the Kodiaq (+57.3%), Kamiq (+27.7%), Karoq (+22.8%) and Fabia (+17.3%) are all catching up fast. The Scala (+0.4%) makes it six Skodas in the Top 6 with the Hyundai i30 (+3.6%) the best of the rest at #7. The Jaecoo 7 (+526.3%) is up 6-fold year-on-year and 15 spots on last month to break into the Top 10 for the first time at #10. Just below, the Dacia Bigster (+117.6%) becomes the brand’s best-seller ahead of the Duster (+1.4%).
