Czechia August 2026: Omoda Jaecoo breaks records again, Skoda Peaq lands

The Skoda Peaq has landed in its home charts.

17,718 new cars found a buyer in Czechia in August, a tiny 0.6% year-on-year improvement. This way, the year-to-date volume is up 4.1% to 167,675. Local behemoth Skoda (+12.2%) vastly outpaces its home market to reach 32.6% share vs. 29.3% a year ago, but this is still below the 36.3% it commands year-to-date. Toyota (-9.5%) and Volkswagen (+6.5%) both pass Hyundai (-38.2%) to complete the podium. Kia (+7.9%) is solid at #5, distancing Dacia (-11.8%), Ford (+5.6%) and Mercedes (-8.6%). Omoda/Jaecoo (+471.8%) breaks its volume (589) and share (3.3%) records and repeats at an all-time high #9.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+15.2%) cements its lead with 7.1% share while the Skoda Karoq (+31.4%) is up one spot on last month to #2. The Skoda Scala (+6.2%) is up two to #3 ahead of the Kodiaq (-3.5%), Kamiq (-5.3%) and Fabia (+22.2%). The new Kia K4 is the best of the rest, up four ranks on July to break into the Top 10 for the first time at #7. The Jaecoo 7 (+118.4%) breaks its ranking record at #9 and scores a second ever Top 10 finish after ranking #10 last May. The Skoda Peaq 7-seater SUV lands directly at #30 while the Epiq is up 69 spots to #53.

Previous month: Czechia July 2026: Kia K4 almost in Top 10

One year ago: Czechia August 2025: Toyota Corolla (+44.4%) breaks Skoda hegemony at #5

  1. In my country, Leapmotor is currently running a super aggressive leasing/rental campaign where you don’t even need a down payment. In Europe, or at least in my country, that’s very rare; those are super competitive campaigns, US-style.

  2. @Pavel

As I explained to you before, Chery/Jaecoo/Omoda in other countries sells its cars mainly through leasing, because it’s a new and unknown brand, so it’s more difficult to sell directly to individuals. Few people will spend over €25,000 on a car from a brand they don’t know. It’s probably the same in the Czech Republic.

MG is a more recognized brand, and Leapmotor belongs to Stellantis, which is why they are brands that don’t depend as much on companies sales and leasing.

    1. Hi Bryan,
maybe but there are 400 cars on stock. Cheapest Omoda Jaecoo Model 5 starts 23300€. Less than Golf.
More cars on stock has Toyota only.
Toyota has overstocked warehouses and is always running promotions. The price of a stock Camry has dropped to €41,600. It’s a nice and reliable car, but it’s still losing out to taxi companies here. It’s unattractive to the average user because it can’t tow a trailer.

  3. Good result, I think the market could go down a bit. People should value old cars.

Jaecoo Omoda is the champion in corporate sales. Share 96.77% is the highest of all large-volume brands. This means these numbers are also own registrations, compare Chery’s share 74.15%, BYD, 68.33%, Leapmotor 50%, MG 37%. Very aggressive strategy to get a lot of cars on the market very quickly. Finances must be big, or they produce it really cheaply. I don’t know.

Unfortunately Maserati didn’t sell a single one. A disaster in Europe. I hope it survives.

BEVs reached a share of 8.9% without subsidies.
    TOP 5 BEVs
    Elroq 214
    Enyaq 166
    Peaq 114
    Epiq 74
    Mercedes GLC 50

I think Tesla is directing deliveries to where the subsidies are. Subsidies are destroying the market.

The development in LCV is interesting. Toyota is leading with the STLA models. The entire portfolio of STLA models covers almost 50% of the market. Then we have to add VW + Ford which is 27% of the market. It is very concentrated.
