The Hyundai Pony managed the outstanding feat of becoming the best-selling passenger car in the country as early as 1985, a time when South Korean models were nowhere to be seen in most parts of the world. Then the Chevrolet Cavalier was the best-selling vehicle in the country from 1990 to 1993, before the Ford F-Series took the lead in 1994. The pickup would dominate the Canadian charts for 16 of the following 20 years, toppled from 2000 to 2002 by the Dodge Caravan and in 2008 by the Honda Civic.

The Chevrolet C/K Pickup was #1 in Canada in 1984.The Chevrolet Cavalier was #1 in Canada from 1990 to 1993.The Ford Aerostar was the #3 light truck in 1990.

The Honda Civic was the best-selling vehicle in Canada in 2008.
