Gulf February 2013: Toyota Hilux #1, RAV4 creeps up

The Gulf Cooperation Council is composed of the sates bordering the Persian Gulf: Saudi ArabiaKuwaitQatarBahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Oman. And it’s another very positive month for the region, with sales up 12% year-on-year in February to 131,155 registrations. This brings the year-to-date total to 261,138 units, up 17% on 2012. The Toyota Hilux continues to dominate with 10,186 sales and 7.8% share while the Toyota Corolla is #2 again albeit at a slightly lower level: 5.8% thanks to 7,577 units. The Toyota Prado jumps into the podium with 6,454 sales and 4.9%, relegating the Land Cruiser to #4 at 6,293 units and 4.8%.

The Hyundai Elantra is the best-selling non-Toyota model in the region once again at #5 with 5,260 sales and 4%, however the Toyota Camry now follows it, up 2 spots on January, with the Hyundai Accent down to #7, the Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up up to #8 and the Toyota Yaris down to #9. The Nissan D22 is back inside the Top 10, up 6 ranks to #10, the Chevrolet Tahoe is up 13 spots to #15, Honda Accord up 4 to #20, Ford Expedition up 7 to #22 and the Toyota RAV4 is up 18 to #24.
