Netherlands August 2017: Renault Clio reclaims YTD lead off VW Polo

The Renault Clio is back to #1 year-to-date in the Netherlands.

The Dutch new car market is up 10.2% year-on-year in August to 29.584 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 14.4% to 288.165 units. Renault leaps up three spots on July and 18% year-on-year to take the lead of the brands ranking with 10.3% share, distancing Volkswagen at 9% (+2%) and Peugeot at 7.9% (+4%). Opel plunges 30% to just 6.9% share vs. 8.3% year-to-date. Reversely, Toyota surges 44% to remains in 5th place, while Kia (+18%), Skoda (+39%) and Hyundai (+61%) also impress inside the Top 10. Further down, notice Mazda (+28%), Seat (+28%), Suzuki (+31%), Mitsubishi (+41%), Land Rover (+64%), Tesla (+67%), Alfa Romeo (+89%) and Smart (+96%) as the most dynamic carmakers. Model-wise, the Renault Clio (+30%) rallies back up 8 spots on July to snap the pole position both in August and YTD off the VW Polo, down 32% to a paltry #19 this month. The Kia Picanto (-5%) remains in 2nd place, the Peugeot 108 is up a whopping 27 ranks on last month to #3, the Opel Karl drops 37% but is up two ranks on July to #4, the Toyota Aygo soars 48% to #5 and the Renault Megane is up 6-fold on August 2016 to land in 6th place. Notice also the VW Transporter up 8-fold to #15, the Toyota C-HR up 9 spots to #17, the Peugeot 3008 up 27-fold to #18, the Hyundai Tucson up 161% to #20 and the Kia Niro up 108% to #21.
