In December, an estimated 2,697 new vehicles found a buyer in Bulgaria, bringing the Full Year 2012 total to an estimated 24,778 units. Massive event in pole position this month: on the back of Great Wall establishing its very first European factory in the country earlier this year, the Great Wall Steed takes the lead of the Bulgarian models ranking in December thanks to a very impressive 161 sales for a 6% market share. Even though some of its sales will end up being re-exported in the region, the margin over the #2 is large enough to ensure it should still be #1. This is the third Chinese model to climb into the monthly pole position of a significant car market in 2012 after the Geely CK in Ukraine in July and the DongFeng S30 in Venezuela in December.
In fact, Great Wall only misses the Bulgarian brands top spot by 7 units this month, ranking #2 behind just Volkswagen at 283 units and 10.5% share… The Dacia Logan MCV is kicked down to 2nd place at 106 units and 3.9% followed by the VW Caddy extremely solid again with 94 sales and 3.5%. Other great performers this month in Bulgaria include the Kia Cee’d up 14 spots on November to #5, the Great Wall Hover up 12 to #6, Peugeot 308 up 11 to #9, Ford B-Max up 95 to a brilliant #15 spot, the Seat Ibiza up 93 to #18 and the VW CC up 82 to #21. Notice also the Peugeot 301 down 9 ranks to #60 and the Skoda Rapid up 85 to #86.
