Taiwanese new car sales are down 33% year-on-year to 21,984 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 274,545 units, down 3% on 2011. The Toyota Corolla unsurprisingly takes the lead of the models ranking albeit with a weaker market share at 7.6% and 1,661 sales. Potentially in runout mode, the Nissan Tiida is up to #2 for the second time in the last 4 months with a strong 5.7% share and 1,256 units, followed by the Nissan Livina at 849 sales and 3.9% and the Toyota Camry with 790 units and 3.6%.

Below the Mitsubishi Veryca and the Toyota Yaris, the Toyota Wish drops 5 spots to #7 while the Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic both break into the Taiwanese Top 10 for the very first time for these generations, at #9 with 505 sales and 2.3% and #10 with 431 and 2% respectively. Other great performers this month include the Ford Escape at #13, the BMW 5 Series up 11 ranks to #14 and the VW Golf up 17 to #15. Notice also the local Luxgen 7 SUV back in the Top 25 for the first time since last March at #21.
