Taiwan March 2012: New gen Toyota Camry up to #2

New car sales in Taiwan are down 7% year-on-year in March at 32,981 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 95,791 units, down 10% on 2011. The Toyota Corolla leads the way for the 10th consecutive month with 2,871 sales and 8.7% share. The new generation Toyota Camry is an instant hit with Taiwanese consumers: up to #2 in March at 1,983 units and 6% share, and now also #2 year-to-date with 4,778 sales and 5%.

The Nissan Livina rounds up the podium at 4.3%, just above the Nissan Tiida, making the March Top 4 identical to the 2012 year-to-date ranking. The Toyota Wish is up one spot to #5 ahead of the Toyota Innova, extremely solid again at #6 and 1,254 sales. The Mitsubishi Lancer Fortis (#9) and Honda CR-V (#10) are back in the game, while the Hyundai i30 is up 7 spots to #14 and the VW Golf is up 6 to #16.
