Thanks to Zsolti, I can share with you very detailed information about the best-selling models in Hungary in 2011. Car sales in Hungary are up 7% on 2010 at 56,527 registrations, including 11,433 Light Commercial Vehicles, up 23% on last year.
The Skoda Octavia was #1 ‘only’ in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland in 2010, and it slowly but surely spreads its wings all across Central and Eastern Europe, adding Croatia, Finland, Estonia, Iceland and now Hungary to the list of countries it conquered in 2011. Up 17% on 2010, it sells 3,079 units for a very robust 5.4% share of the Hungarian market.
The Opel Astra takes the 2nd spot, up 11% to 2,759 sales and 4.9% and the Ford Focus, #1 in 2010, is down 8% to #3 and 2,541 units. These 3 models are the only ones above 2.1% market share, and the #4, the VW Golf, sells only half of the #3 at 1,208 sales and 2.1%, down 24%.
The VW Passat at #5, Ford Transit at #6 and #1 LCV and Opel Corsa at #8 are the newcomers in the Top 10. Further down the ranking, notice the Dacia Duster at #10 passenger car, the Suzuki Swift down to #18 overall and the only Suzuki in the Top 20 and the Skoda Superb at #19 overall.
