The Finnish new car market is up 3% year-on-year in April to 9,488 registrations, but still down 2% year-to-date at 38,573 units. I give you the rankings for now, complete analysis will follow shortly. Volkswagen reclaims the brands leadership both in April (12.3% share) and year-to-date (11.1%), overtaking Toyota (10.7% and 10.9% respectively). Skoda is strong in third place with 9.6% share, above Ford, Volvo, Kia and Audi while Nissan, boosted to #2 last month, falls down to #12. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia continues its solo run in pole position with 6.3% share, a safe distance above the Toyota Auris (+75%), VW Golf (-31%) and VW Passat (+75%). The new generation has given a welcome kick to the Ford Mondeo: up 3-fold year-on-year and 13 spots on March to land in 5th place with 246 sales and 2.6% share. Notice also the Kia Rio up 49% to #6, the VW Polo up 120% to #11, Opel Corsa up 271% to #15 and the Mitsubishi ASX up 46% to #23.
