Estonia Full Year 2017: Skoda Octavia and Toyota Avensis on top, sales up 11.5%

The Estonian new car market is up 11.5% year-on-year in 2017 to 25.020 registrations. The Skoda Octavia outpaces the market with a 17% gain to 5.3% share, posting a second consecutive year atop the Estonian charts and 4th in total after 20112014 and 2016. The Toyota Avensis (+7%) remains in 2nd place, distancing the Toyota RAV4 up 47% and five spots to #3. The Renault Clio is the best performer in the Top 10, more than doubling its sales on 2016 at +102% to 3% share and up 14 ranks to #4, even snapping the pole position in a demo sales-filled December. The VW Passat is up two spots to #5, the Skoda Superb up 6 to #6 and the Kia Sportage up 3 to #7 whereas the Nissan Qashqai (-21%), Toyota Auris (-26%) and Honda CR-V (-19%) all tumble down.

Estonia November 2017: Honda CR-V shoots up to #2

New car sales in Estonia are up 14.3% to 2.100 in November and up 11.3% to 23.522 year-to-date. Below the Skoda Octavia down 3% but still sovereign at 5.4% share, the Honda CR-V shoots up to 2nd place thanks to the new model and reappears in the YTD Top 10 at #10. The Toyota RAV4 (+41%) and VW Passat (+12%) tie up for third place this month above the Kia Sportage (+41%) and Skoda Superb (-4%). The Renault Clio (-14%), Toyota Avensis (-34%) and Auris (-43%) are in difficulty.

Estonia October 2017: Skoda Octavia leads, VW Passat up

VW Passat sales are up 50% year-on-year in Estonia in October.

New car sales in Estonia are up 10.8% in October to 2.076 units, in line with a 11.1% improvement year-to-date to 21.422 registrations. The Skoda Octavia holds the fort and is the only nameplate to post a three-digit sales figure for October despite a 12% year-on-year drop. Below, the Toyota Avensis (+48%), VW Passat (+50%) and Toyota RAV4 (+44%) all deliver gigantic gains. The Kia Sportage and Skoda Fabia also cross the 50 sales mark, the latter returning to the YTD Top 10 as a result.

Estonia September 2017: Skoda Octavia and Superb shine

The Skoda Superb ranks 4th in Estonia in September.

New car sales in Estonia are up a timid 2.2% year-on-year in September to 1.947 registrations, meaning the year-to-date total is now up 11.1% to 19.346 units. The Skoda Octavia reinforces its leadership over the models ranking with a fantastic 8% share this month and sales up a whopping 81% year-on-year. It crosses the 1.000 unit-mark year-to-date. Far below is the Toyota Avensis up 26% to 5% share, ahead of the Toyota RAV4 (+55%), Skoda Superb (+27%) and VW Passat (+49%). The Renault Clio continues to post extravagant year-on-year gains at +200% in September and +167% year-to-date. Notice also the Kia Cee’d appearing in the YTD Top 10 at #10 whereas it ranked #20 over the Full Year 2016.

Estonia August 2017: Skoda Octavia in control

The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling vehicle in Estonia this month and year-to-date.

The Estonian new car market is up 11.9% year-on-year in August to 2.049 registrations, a growth rate similar to that YTD at +12.2% to 17.399 units. Outsold by the Toyota RAV4 in July, the Skoda Octavia reclaims the pole position it holds year-to-date and is the only nameplate achieving a 3-digit sales figure in Estonia this month, up 86% year-on-year. The Toyota Avensis follows and climbs back up to #2 year-to-date, bypassing the RAV4. At #4 YTD, the Renault Clio (+164%) is now equal with the VW Passat (+6%) due to a paltry August score of just 22 sales. The Nissan Qashqai is up 81% in August but down 23% so far this year, the Kia Sportage recedes two spots vs. last month to #8 YTD despite a 20% gain and the Skoda Superb continues to impress at #9 (+41%).

New car sales in Estonia gain 6.8% in July to 2.068 registrations, bringing the year-to-date tally up 12.5% to 15.775 units. This month the Toyota RAV4 oversteps the Skoda Octavia to take the lead and climbs up two spots in the YTD ranking to hit the 2nd place with 3.6% share. The Octavia comfortably remains in the YTD lead  with 4.9% of the market. Big gainers in the Top 10 include the Renault Clio (+185%), Skoda Superb (+42%) and Kia Cee’d (+55%).

Estonia First Half 2017: Skoda Octavia cements lead

The Skoda Octavia continues to dominate the Estonian sales charts.

The Estonian new car market jumps up 33.7% year-on-year in June to 2.666 registrations, leading to a First Half result 13.4% above the same period a year ago at 13.332 units. The Skoda Octavia cements its domination of the market by ranking #1 in June with 5.2% share vs. 5% YTD. The Toyota Avensis overtakes the Renault Clio for the 2nd spot YTD, benefiting from a particularly weak month from the French supermini (2.2% share). The VW Passat ranks #2 in June but remains in 5th place year-to-date below the Toyota RAV4. The Skoda Superb (#7) and Toyota Auris (#9) reappear inside the YTD Top 10.

Estonia January-May 2017: Octavia and Clio on top, Kodiaq in Top 10

Renault Clio sales are up 171% in Estonia in 2017, earning the French car a 2nd spot overall.

The Estonian new car market is up 9.2% year-on-year over the first five months of 2017 to 10.983 units. As it was the case over the Full Year 2016, the Skoda Octavia is the best-selling nameplate in the country with sales up a solid 17% on the same period last year. The Renault Clio shoots up from #18 in 2016 directly to #2 so far this year thanks to deliveries up 171%, and the Toyota Avensis rounds up the podium at +11%. The Toyota RAV4 (+49%) and Kia Cee’d (+29%) also post double digit gains whereas the Nissan Qashqai (-36%) and Toyota Corolla (-14%) struggle. The Skoda Kodiaq lands directly inside the Top 10 in 10th place.

Estonia January 2017: Honda CR-V in charge

The new generation CR-V hasn’t hit the Latvian market yet, but the nameplate still ranks #1.

The Estonian new car market is up 13.5% year-on-year in January  to 2.026 registrations. Despite sales crumbling down 8% year-on-year, the Honda CR-V is the best-selling vehicle in the country this month, distancing the Toyota RAV4 surging up 144% and the Renault Clio posting an even more impressive 226% gain. Other great performers in the Top 10 include the VW Passat up 33% to #4, VW Golf up 57% to #6, Kia Sportage up 225% to #7, Skoda Superb ip 80% to #9 and the VW Tiguan topping them all with a 285% increase on its January 2016 score thanks to the new model now well settled.

Estonia Full Year 2016: Skoda Octavia reclaims top spot

The Skoda Octavia is #1 in Estonia for the third time in the past six years.

The Estonian new car market is up 9% year-on-year in 2016 to 22.997 registrations, still led by Toyota improving its share to 14% thanks to deliveries up 18%. Skoda (+20%), Renault (+13%) and Volkswagen (+12%) follow, while Honda (+4%) and Kia (-16%) both overtake Nissan, struggling at -34%. Inside the Top 10, Subaru (+15%), Peugeot (+14%) and Dacia (+10%) also outpace the market. Outside, luxury brands account for the large majority of biggest gainers this year: Audi (+21%), Volvo (+25%), Mitsubishi (+32%), Lexus (+35%), Mercedes (+37%), Porsche (+38%), Mazda (+41%), Land Rover (+95%), Jaguar (+140%) Alfa Romeo (+183%), DS (+200%), Maserati (+300%) and Bentley (+600%) all take off in 2016.

The Toyota Avensis ranks #2 in Estonia in 2016. 

In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia is back to a pole position it held in 2011 and 2014 thanks to sales soaring 28% to 1.139 and 5% share. It distances the Toyota Avensis (+11%), Auris (+14%) and last year’s leader, the Nissan Qashqai crashing down 37% to #4. The Dacia Duster gains 15% to break into the Top 5 and become the best-selling SUV in Estonia, overttaking the Honda CR-V (-7%). The VW Passat (+22%), Toyota RAV4 (+34%), Subaru Legacy (+13%) and Kia Sportage (+48%) also shine in the Top 10. Further down, notice the Skoda Superb up 176% to #12, the Honda HR-V up 429% to #199, Opel Astra up 66% to #24 and Audi Q5 up 102% to #28. The Renault Kadjar (#34), Hyundai Tucson (#36), Range Rover Sport (#38) and Mazda CX-3 (#39) also make themselves noticed.
