* Now updated with the Full Top 10 – many thanks to Florian for the tip! *
At some stage down 45% on 2009, the Hungarian car market closes the year at -26% in 2010 with 54,165 registrations. This is to be compared to the 223,884 units sold in 2005…
The Ford Focus is the best-selling car in Hungary again this year with 2,757 sales and 5.1% share, just ahead of the Skoda Octavia, up an impressive 30% to 2,632 units (4.9%). The Opel Astra takes the 3rd spot at 2,474 sales (4.6%), down 3%. The VW Golf is up 20% and 6 spots to #4 and is followed by the Skoda Fabia (+35%!), Renault Megane (-12%) and Nissan Qashqai (+12%).
Notice the Renault Fluence landing directly in 8th position for its first year of sales. While in 2007 Suzuki placed 3 models on Hungary’s podium, and in 2009 there were still 3 Suzukis in the Top 5, this year only the Suzuki Swift manages to rank within the Top 10 at #10 with 852 sales, down 65% year-on-year.
