Netherlands July 2026: Cupra Raval up to #5, Toyota Aygo X #1 YTD

The Cupra Raval is up to #5 in the Netherlands for its 2nd month in market.

New car sales in the Netherlands are down -2.6% year-on-year in July to 28,066 units. BEVs are the most popular powertrain at 47.3% share vs. 30.8% a year ago thanks to sales up 48.6% year-on-year to 13,267. They are followed by HEVs down -17.8% to 12,342 and 44% share vs. 51.8% last year. Petrol crashes -53% to just 2,115 and 7.5% share vs. 15.5% in July 2025, diesel is down -41.6% to 277 and LPG up 3.2% to 0.2% of the market.

Kia (-18.3%) reclaims the brands top spot with 10.6% share and despite a steep year-on-year fall. The Korean carmaker topples Toyota (-8.4%) resisting a little better but still falling faster than the market. Volkswagen (-16.1%) and Skoda (-16%) are also in trouble whereas Renault (+17.8%) and Volvo (+17%) truly shine. Mercedes (+3.3%) and Audi (+3.1%) are the only additional Top 10 gainers. Below, Cupra (+114.7%) delivers its best performance since December 2022 at #14 with 3% share, with BYD (+108.7%), Leapmotor (+524.1%) and Jaecoo (+755.2%) also outstanding.

Model-wise, the Skoda Elroq (-11.3%) takes the lead for the second time this year after last April, and is followed by the Kia Picanto (-38.6%) and Kia EV3 (-22.9%). All podium members hit a wall YoY. The Toyota Aygo X (+4.8%) is up and ascends to the YTD pole position in the process, dislodging the Tesla Model Y (+22.9%) down to #16. Launched just last month, the new Cupra Raval is an instant blockbuster here, surging 16 spots on June to crack the Top 5 at #5 with 2% share. Excellent scores in the remainder of the Top 10 by the VW ID.4 (+194.7%), Hyundai Kona (+79.6%) and Inster (+83.7%), with the Skoda Kodiaq (+7.8%) also in positive at #10.
