Romania June 2026: Market up 51.9%, Tesla at highest in 2.5 years
The Tesla Model 3 is up to #7 in Romania in June.
16,120 new cars hit Romanian roads in June, a spectacular 51.9% year-on-year improvement. However keep in mind that June 2025 was off a daunting -50.3% on the year prior. As a result we remain well below the 21,358 units registered in June 2024. Nevertheless the YTD tally tilts into positive for just 32 sales at 64,853 (+0.05%). Local behemoth Dacia (+4.2%) remains in great difficulty in context and sees its share tumble down from 25.9% in June 2025 to just 17.7% this month. Toyota (+26.7%), Skoda (+32.6%) and Volkswagen (+40.6%) follow but all trail the market.
Renault (+65.9%) is up five spots to May to #5 but the best performer in the Top 10 is Tesla up 2532% year-on-year to #7 and 658 sales for a 4.1% share. This is the American brand’s highest ever ranking in Romania (also reached in July 2023 and January 2024), a record volume and best share since hitting 4.4% in January 2024. Its share record remains 4.7% in July 2023. Mazda (+289.2%) and Kia (+199.5%) also surge in the remainder of the Top 10 while just outside BYD (+49300%) breaks its volume record at 494.
Model-wise, the Dacia Logan (+58.7%) reclaims the top spot for the first time since last November, and rises from #5 to #2 in the year-to-date charts. The Dacia Duster (-22.3%) is relegated to 2nd place and sees its market share plunge from 11.1% a year ago in June 2025 to 5.7% this month. The Toyota Corolla (+53.6%) is down one spot on May to a still superb #3. The Skoda Octavia (+11.5%) vastly trails the market but climbs one spot on May to #4 while the Renault Clio (+56.4%) is up 14 ranks on last month to #5. The Tesla Model 3 (+7480%) surges 55 spots to #7 with 2.4% share, its best performance since January 2024 (#5 with 3% share). Meanwhile the Nissan Qashqai is up 2042.9% to #11 and the Tesla Model Y up 1422.2% to #13.
