Today we have updated Historical Data for Turkiye, filling the gaps between 1993 and 2004. There are 7 new articles and two amended ones, giving us uninterrupted data all the way from 1993 to 2024.

We can now share with you 30 years worth of Historical Data for Turkiye. If we go back a decade further back in 1981, only 21,000 vehicles found a buyer in the country vs. over one million nowadays. In 1993, local brand Tofas was ultra-dominant, with the Turkish production of the Fiat 131 grabbing almost 40% of the market if all versions are counted together.

The Tofas Sahin was among the best selling cars in Turkey until 1995.

Interestingly, even though the Tofas logo has now disappeared from models sold in Turkey, the company still exists, producing and selling Fiat models locally and to export markets. Tofas designed the Fiat Linea which topped the Turkish market in 2012 and 2013. Renault has also been extremely successful in Turkiye over the past three decades, with the Renault 9 ranking #1 in 1993, 1996 and 1997, the Clio #1 in 2000, the Megane leading the way in 2001 and from 2004 to 2006, the Symbol topping the sales charts in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 and the Fluence in 2014.

When including light commercials, the Ford Transit ranked #1 overall in 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2005 and the Fiat Doblo #1 in 2006. After the Toyota Corolla snapped the lead at the last minute in 2015, the Fiat Egea has been the best-selling vehicle in Turkey ever since 2016. Notice also the Hyundai Accent surprise leader in 2009, and the large amount of locally-produced Light Commercial Vehicles filling Turkish roads: the Fiat Doblo led the LCV ranking in 2010 and 2012, interrupted by the Ford Transit Connect in 2011 and the Ford Transit in 2013.
