Turkey 2007: Renault Symbol takes the lead

Renamed Symbol (instead of Clio Symbol) in 2006, the small Renault sedan passes its big sister the Renault Megane Sedan to establish itself as the best-selling passenger car in Turkey in 2007, selling 23,220 units for a 6.5% market share, ahead of the 21,874 sales and 6.1% of the Megane Sedan, the Toyota Corolla taking the 3rd spot at 16,781 units and 4.7%.
Interestingly the entire Top 7 is composed of sedans: the Hyundai Accent Era is 4th, followed by the Ford Focus Sedan, Fiat Albea and Honda Civic Sedan! The best-selling Hatchback is the Ford Fiesta at #8 with 10,500 sales and 2.9%.
The Fiat Linea, a Grande Punto Sedan produced exclusively in Turkey, is the best-selling all new 2007 model at #10 with 9,628 units moved in only 8 months, equivalent to a 5th place over 12 months. It ranked as high as #3 in May, its launch month, with 1,325 sales!
