Turkey 2009: Hyundai Accent distant leader, Fluence starts

The Turkish car market is booming in 2009, up 21% to 369,819 registrations. After many years of Renault domination, the Hyundai Accent Era, perhaps boosted by end-of-life price readjustments, is a distant leader in 2009 Turkish car sales with close to 9% of the market and 32,968 sales, up 89% on 2008. The Renault Symbol drops to #2 with 23,989 units and 6.5% share, still up 34%.
Renault Fluence
In 3rd, the Renault Megane Sedan sells 17,052 units, up 5% and saw its career end this year, replaced by the Renault Fluence launched in November 2009 and already #27 in the Full Year ranking with 3,639 sales and 1% share. The Toyota Corolla ranks 4th, down 10%, ahead of the Hyundai Getz up 8 spots and 121%, completing a fantastic year for Hyundai. Notice the solid 14th place of the Mercedes C Class, up a massive 189% on 2008, in a ranking still dominated by sedans (8 in Top 10, 13 in Top 20).
