Slovakia March 2024: Nissan and Qashqai defy market off -12.4%
Nissan sales are up 188.1% year-on-year in March.
The Slovak new car market is hit -12.4% year-on-year in March to 7,754 sales, yet the Q1 volume remains in positive at +5.6% to 23,391. Strikingly, the Top 4 brands all fall faster than the market with double-digit drops. Skoda (-19.4%) is down to 18.5% share vs. 21.9% so far this year, followed by Toyota (-12.7%), Hyundai (-18.5%) and Kia (-24.3%). Volkswagen (+5.8%) lodges a very solid performance in context and ensure the Top 5 is identical to YTD. The best performer of the month is by far Nissan (+188.1%) tripling its sales year-on-year and up 6 spots on February to #6. Renault (+22%) and Suzuki (+3.1%) also manage positive results in the remainder of the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-1.8%) contains its loss to reclaim the top sport with 5.5% share. It is followed by the Hyundai i30 (+42.3%) and Skoda Fabia (+68.8%) both in outstanding shape, but not as much as the Nissan Qashqai up a smashing +515.1% year-on-year and 15 spots on last month to #4. It now ranks #11 year-to-date vs. #38 over the Full Year 2023. Below, the Skoda Karoq (-40.2%) and Kia Sportage (-24.8%) suffer.
