Slovakia July 2026: Skoda Karoq scores first win, Kia K4 inside Top 10

The Kia K4 ranks #8 in Slovakia in July.

The Slovak new car market falls by a harsh -17.7% year-on-year in July to just 6,940 sales, pulling the year-to-date volume down -5.9% to 50,444. Brand leader Skoda (-9.6%) manages to contain its fall somewhat and climbs to 23.5% share vs. 20.8% year-to-date. Volkswagen (-23.8%) is in deep trouble but stays in 2nd place while Toyota (-1.7%) and Kia (-30.4%) leapfrog past Hyundai (-21.8%) in the remainder of the Top 5. Suzuki (+30.3%) defies the negative market and is back up five spots on last month to #7, but the best performer in the Top 10 is by far BYD (+1004.8%) up 11-fold YoY to #9 and 3.3% share, smashing its previous best of #16 (last May and June) and 1.9% (May). Mazda (+59.5%) also makes itself noticed while Chery (#19) and Leapmotor (#21) are the best-selling newcomers.

Over in the models charts, the Skoda Karoq (+44.7%) surges ahead to snap its first ever monthly win, its previous best being #2 in November 2024. In fact Skoda monopolises the Top 5 with the Octavia (-27.3%) sinking in 2nd place but still a distant leader YTD, distancing the Fabia (-12.7%), Kamiq (+19.3%) and Scala (+3.3%). The Hyundai i30 (+67.3%) is the best of the rest at #6 ahead of the Kia Sportage (-36.6%). The Kia K4 is the best-selling newcomer, breaking into the Top 10 at #8, followed by the BYD Seal U (#15), Leapmotor B10 (#39) and Kia Seltos (#44).
