Slovakia August 2026: Skoda (+11.8%) defies negative market, Kamiq, Scala and Karoq in shape
The Skoda Kamiq sees its sales surge 76.9% year-on-year in August.
6,268 new cars hit Slovak roads in August, a disappointing -6.2% year-on-year drop. The year-to-date tally is now down -5.9% to 56,712. Market leader Skoda (+11.8%) defies the negative market to cement its leadership at 20.6% share. It is followed like last month by Volkswagen (-23.7%), Toyota (-7.8%), Kia (-22.6%) and Hyundai (-22.8%), all falling faster than the market while a solid Citroen (+8.1%) ensures the Top 6 is unchanged on July. Suzuki (+9.7%) and Peugeot (+7.7%) are the only two additional gainers in the Top 10 while BYD (+868.8%) is down four spots on July to #13 but surges year-on-year. Below, newcomer Jaecoo is up 16 ranks to #17 and Omoda is up 13 to #21.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-13.9%) reclaims the top spot despite a steep fall, and it distances the Fabia (+2.2%), Kamiq (+76.9%) and Scala (+34.1%) all with market-defying upticks. The Kia Sportage (-14.6%) is the best of the rest at #5 ahead of last month’s winner the Skoda Karoq (+20%). The Toyota Corolla (+25%) and Hyundai i30 (+1.3%) shine while the Hyundai Tucson (-28.8%) and Suzuki SX4 S-Cross (-11.5%) return to the Top 10 despite YoY drops. The Kia K4 remains the most successful recent launch but slips outside the Top 10 at #11. It distances the BYD Seal U (#29), Chery Tiggo 7 (#44), Omoda 5 (#55) and BYD Sealion 7 (#58).
