Slovakia April 2023: Skoda, Suzuki, Peugeot shine in market up 13.8%

The Skoda Octavia is by far the most popular vehicle in Slovakia in April.

The Slovak new car market gains 13.8% year-on-year in April to 6,892 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 14.9% to 29,047. Skoda (+51.5%) rallies back up on a drab year-ago volume to easily top the brands charts with 19.4% share. It distances Toyota (+15.7%) and Kia (-2.1%) both up one spot on March to #2 and #3 respectively. #1 a year ago, Hyundai (-22.2%) suffers and falls to #4. Suzuki (+79.3%) and Peugeot (+76.8%) deliver the largest year-on-year gains in the Top 10 with Volkswagen (+34.4%), Mercedes (+33.5%) and BMW (+22.1%) also beating the market. 

The Skoda Octavia (+566.7%) surges year-on-year to confirm it is back at the helm of the Slovak models ranking with a dominant 5.2% share. The Skoda Fabia (-3.7%) is up 7 ranks on last month to #2 with the Hyundai Tucson (+26.5%) up four to round out the podium. The Kia Sportage (-7.3%) and Ceed (-24.3%) both underperform below. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+116.5%), Skoda Kamiq (+65.2%), Karoq (+58.4%) and Dacia Duster (+22.1%) impress below whereas the Hyundai i30 (-61.6%) falls to #7. It ranked #1 over the Full Year 2022 but is now down to #6 year-to-date. The Dacia Jogger (#34) leads recent launches above the Toyota Corolla Cross (#39).
