Argentina February 2023: Peugeot (+37%), Volkswagen (+33.7%) and Toyota (+20.4%) impress, sales up 3.5%
The Peugeot 208 holds a record 9.6% of the Argentinean new vehicle market in February.
New vehicle sales in Argentina gain 3.5% year-on-year in February to 30,121 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 10.8% to 80,206. Toyota (+20.4%) vastly outpaces the market to 19.7% share. It distances Fiat edging down -0.5%) while Peugeot (+37%) is up four spots on last month to land on the third step of the podium. Volkswagen (+33.7%) is knocked down to #4 despite very solid year-on-year growth. Renault (+0.1%) underperforms but stays at #5 just as Ford (+22.2%) drops to #6. Chevrolet (+17.7%) also shines at #6 whereas Citroen (-39.2%), Nissan (-22.4%) and Mercedes (-14.7%) all freefall. Below, Audi (+500%) and Foton (+278.9%) impress.
Model-wise, the Fiat Cronos (+7.9%) continues to evolve head and shoulders above the competition at 13.3% share with the Peugeot 208 (+78.7%) surging ahead to #2 with a record 9.6% share. The Toyota Hilux (+24.3%) reclaims the lead in the pickup race above the VW Amarok (+12.5%) while the Toyota Etios (+49.7%) soars two spots on January to #4. The Ford Ranger (+110.1%) and Chevrolet Tracker (+402.7%) both post outstanding gains below. In fact the entire remainder of the Top 10 score above market gains with the Renault Kangoo (+23.7%), Sandero/Stepway (+11.6%) and Toyota Corolla Cross (+10.6%) all impressive.
