On paper, the Argentinian new vehicle market has controlled its freefall, reducing its decline from a horrendous -29% in 2014 to just -6% in 2015, helped by year-on-year gains across the last quarter (+21% in October, +29% in November and +3% in December). However the reality is a lot more unstable: if last year the market was affected by a significant tax hike, this time the lack of stock at dealerships and extravagant pricing commanded by some brands have made Argentina start looking like a bit of a minefield. Among the Top 5 brands, leader Volkswagen (+3%) and Chevrolet up two spots to #3 (+4%) go agains the grain and post year-on-year gains, but Ford (-1%), Fiat (-17%) but also Toyota (-28%) and Citroen (-23%) drop. Model-wise, the VW Gol Trend (+3%) remains on top, the Chevrolet Classic (+13%) is back up two spots to #2 above the Toyota Hilux, Ford Fiesta Kinetic, Fiat Palio and Ford Ecosport.
