Second ever podium finish for the Ford Territory in Argentina.
New light vehicle sales in Argentina reverse -12.6% year-on-year in September to 46,717 units, leading to a year-to-date volume off -13.6% to 409,791. Toyota (-13%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country with 16.7% share, while Fiat (-12.4%) overtakes a sinking Volkswagen (-33.7%) to take the 2nd spot. Ford (-6.3%) resists somewhat and stays #4 while the next four brands fall even faster than the market: Peugeot is down -39.2%, Renault off -32.5%, Citroen down -23.6% and Chevrolet down -13.6%. BYD (+8700%) celebrates one year in market at #9 with 3.4% share. Chery (+1738.6%), Honda (+127.9%) and BAIC (+79.2%) also impress. Maextro sells its first unit of the S800 ultra-luxury sedan.
Over in the models charts, the Toyota Hilux (+21.1%) stays on top with 6.5% share, distancing the Ford Ranger (-0.4%) just as the Ford Territory (-2.4%) scores its second ever podium finish after last April at #3. Note the new generation Hilux is not yet available in Argentina. The VW Amarok (-2.8%) is back up to #4, making it three pickup trucks in the Top 4. The Fiat Cronos (-18.6%) is in trouble at #5 but stays at #2 year-to-date. The new Toyota Yaris Cross is down three ranks on August to #6 with the Peugeot 208 (-32.4%) and Toyota Corolla Cross (-33.3%) both imploding below. The VW Tera (+7.5%) ranks #9 while the Chevrolet Onix (-18.6%) rounds out the Top 10.
