Oman Full Year 2022: MG (+43.5%), Changan (+85.7%) ignore market off -10.3%, Hilux and Land Cruiser on top

The Omani new vehicle market sinks -10.3% year-on-year in 2022 to 64,760 units. Toyota (-9.7%) falls slightly slower than the market to improve its share to a fantastic 47%. Nissan (-41.8%) is in trouble but stays in 2nd place with 11.4% share vs. 17.5% last year. MG (+43.5%) continues to spectacularly gear up and climbs onto the year-end podium with 8% of the market vs. 5% a year ago. Hyundai (-3%) is toppled to #4 but gains share year-on-year to 5.5%. Isuzu (+2.3%) rounds out the Top 5 in positive. Below, Changan (+85.7%) makes its entrance inside the Oman Top 10 at #9 with Mitsubishi (+17.1%) and Suzuki (+12.6%) also in great shape.

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-23%) snaps the top spot despite a ghastly drop leading it to 12.7% share vs. 14.8% a year ago. The Toyota Land Cruiser (+21.7%) is up two ranks on 2021 to #2 with 10.2% of the market while the Nissan Sunny (-46.6%), leader last year, implodes to #3, Toyota places another two nameplates inside the Top 5: the Land Cruiser pickup (-27.2%) and Hiace (-9.7%). The MG 5 (+28.8%) scores the largest gain in the Top 15 to shoot up three spots to #6. There are a total of 7 Toyotas in the Top 10: add the Fortuner (-22.7%), Camry (+15.6%) and Corolla (-22.7%). The Changan UNI-K is the most popular 2022 launch at #89.
