Belgium May 2022: Toyota (+55.5%), Kia (+42.5%) ignore market down -43.2% on pre-pandemic

Toyota sales are up 55.5% year-on-year in Belgium in May.

New car sales in Belgium dive -16.7% year-on-year in May to just 29,025 units, that is a -43.2% drop on pre-pandemic May 2019 (51.081). The year-to-date volume is now down -15.2% to 160,573. BMW (-21.7%) remains in the brands lead with 10.3% share, distancing Volkswagen (-10.2%) and Mercedes (-9.8%) both falling slower than the market. In contrast, Peugeot (-29.5%) and Audi (-32.2%) suffer. Toyota (+55.5%) and Kia (+42.5%) go against the market with tremendous gains and Citroen (+1.3%) is also in positive. Further down and in order of sales, Seat (+8.9%), Nissan (+34%), DS (+111%), Suzuki (+16%), Porsche (+11.7%), Lynk & Co (+846.7%), MG (+373.1%), Polestar (+141.7%) and Cupra (+87.9%) stand out in the remainder of the Top 30.
