Jordan Full Year 2020: Toyota Land Cruiser clear best-seller in solid market (-5.7%)

The Jordanian new car market resists a lot better than its neighbours in 2020 with a -5.7% dip to 29.155 units. Brand leader Toyota (+6.7%) tightens its grip on the market thanks to a solid gain and sees its share go from 31.3% in 2019 to 35.4% this year. In contrast, followers Hyundai (-39%) and Kia (-27.6%) are in great difficulty. Quite strikingly, the rest of the Top 10 brands are all in positive, with Chevrolet (+110.6%), Lexus (+56.5%), Mitsubishi (+37.7%) and Nissan (+10.2%) allowing themselves multiple digit- gains while Suzuki (+6.5%) and Isuzu (+2.3%). Launched in Jordan in 2020, Chinese brand MG lands directly in 8th position with 2.3% share.

Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+37.5%) edges up one spot to secure a second win in the past three years with a mammoth 15.9% share, distancing the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+42.2%) up three ranks to #2. The Isuzu N-Series (+4.8%) remains in third position while last year’s leader the Hyundai Tucson (-54.7%) drops 3 spots to #4. The Lexus LX (+93.7%), Kia Frontier (+56.6%) and Nissan Patrol (+31.9%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. MG has the Top 5 best-selling new launches: the RX5 (#38), MG5 (#43), RX8 (#46), ZS (#55) and HS (#64).
