Jordan 7 months 2020: Chevrolet (+141.8%), Toyota Land Cruiser PU (+62.7%), Nissan Patrol (+44.8%) shine in market down just -16.6%

The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup is aiming for the overall top spot in Jordan.

The Jordanian new car market limits its fall to -16.6% year-on-year over the first 7 months of 2020 to 14.246 units. After Q1 volumes down -9.5%, April sales tumbled down -72.5% from 2.371 in April 2019 to 652, but May was off just -10% from 2.675 to 2.407, June was actually up 7.4% from 2.256 to 2.422 and July down -13.1% from 2.270 to 1.972. Toyota (-19.2%) easily remains the most popular carmaker in the country despite falling slightly faster than the market to 32.8% share, distancing Hyundai (-32.1%) at 18.4% while Nissan (+21.1%) bucks the negative trend to leap up two spots to #3 with 10.1% share. Kia (-31.1%) and Isuzu (-20.6%) are knocked down to #4 and #5 respectively and it’s Chevrolet (+141.8%) that sports the largest gain in market to soar from #14 a year ago to #7 just as Mitsubishi (+36%) and Lexus (+24.4%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. MG lands directly at #12 with 1.3% share.

Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (-39.8%) keeps the lead at 9.9% share despite a ghastly fall, but is now feeling the heat from the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup surging 62.7% year-on-year to 8.8% share. The Hyundai Tucson (-49.1%), leader over the Full Year 2019, is knocked down to #3. The Nissan Patrol (+44.8%) is lifted up 3 spots to #4 by the new generation, with the Hyundai H1 (+124.5%), Hyundai Elantra (+37.5%) and Mitsubishi L200 (+19.5%) also sporting fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10. The Chevrolet Tahoe (+978.3%), Hyundai Creta (+607.4%) and Kia Frontier (+186.5%) also impress just below. The Kia Pegas (#27) is the best-selling recent launch, distancing the MG HS (#52), Hyundai Reina (#54), MG RX8 (#55), MG5 (#59) and MG RX5 (#66).
