Turkey September 2020: Citroen (+224.3%), Opel (+217.7%) headline market up 115.8%, Fiat Egea smashes share record to 18.7%.

Citroen sales are up 3-fold year-on-year in Turkey in September.

Now with September Top 25 models.

The August 2020 post has been updated with the Top 25 models.

New light vehicle sales in Turkey once again display insolent good health in September at a surreal +115.8% year-on-year to 90.619 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 75.5% to 493.621. However as we have noted over the past few months, the past two years worth of sales were annihilated by a strenuous economic crisis and make comparison bases extraordinarily low. This way, September 2020 is up an even more spectacular 293.4% on September 2018 but up a more realistic 27% on September 2017 which could a more honest comparison set.

Fiat (+182.4%) easily remains the most popular brand in the country, lifting to 19.1% share vs. 17.7% so far this year and distancing Renault (+90.9%) at 15.4% vs. 13.6%. Ford (+201.5%) once again vastly outpaces the market but drops one spot on August to #3 and 12.2% vs. 11.3% YTD. Underperforming Volkswagen (+46.8%) ensures the Top 4 is identical to the YTD order. Citroen (+224.3%), Opel (+217.7%), Nissan (+180.1%), Skoda (+138.3%) and Toyota (+135%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Alfa Romeo (+411.1%), Mitsubishi (+383%), DS (+340%), Ssangyong (+340%), Jeep (+301.4%), Kia (+206.6%) and Maserati (+200%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Fiat Egea smashes its share record it hit last December (14.2%) to light it to a monumental 18.7% thanks to 11.509 registrations.
