Turkey October 2020: Renault (+238.7%), Fiat (+202.5%) easily outpace market up 93%

Renault Megane sales are up 433.6% year-on-year in Turkey in October.

The Turkish new light vehicle market continues to rejuvenate after two dreadful years, with October volumes up another 93% year-on-year to 94.733 units which leads to a year-to-date tally up 78.1% to 588.354. However as we have noted over the past few months, Turkish sales had imploded over the past two years under the weight of a severe economic crisis, making comparison sets extraordinarily low. This way, October 2020 is up an even more spectacular 339.2% on October 2018 but just 3.2% on October 2017 which could be a more realistic comparison set.

In any case, market leader Fiat (+202.5%) more than doubles the market growth rate and is up 3-fold year-on-year to 18.2% share, leading an overachieving podium with Ford (+123.5%) and Renault (+238.7%) also in outstanding shape. Toyota (+110.2%) and Peugeot (+105.7%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10 but Volkswagen (+19.7%), although up significantly, severely underperforms.

Model-wise, the Fiat Egea (+231.1%) remains untouchable, selling almost 3 times the volume as the #2, the Toyota Corolla (+114.1%) with the Renault Clio (+263.3%) dynamically closing the podium. The Peugeot 2008 (#10), Renault Megane (+433.6%), Fiat Doblo (+184.4%), Ford Transit/Tourneo (+134%) and Ford Transit/Tourneo Courier (+128.1%) also gain more ground than the market in the remainder of the Top 10.
