Excellent month for new light vehicle sales in Turkey with October sales up 10.5% to 91.752 units, pulling the year-to-date score into almost completely stable at 719.095 vs. 719.499 over the same period a year ago. Brand leaders Renault (+31%) and Fiat (+21%) vastly outperform the market to hit 12.7% and 12% share respectively, whereas Volkswagen is in difficulty at -14% to 11.4%. Ford (+8%), Toyota (+10%), Hyundai (+9%), Opel (-6%) and Dacia (4%) also underperform but Nissan (+75%), Audi (+55%), Peugeot (+28%) and Mercedes (+17%) shine all inside the Top 12. Further down, notice Mitsubishi (+55%), Land Rover (+53%), Isuzu (+49%), Subaru (+47%) and Volvo (+46%) among the best performers.
The Renault Megane cements its 2nd place overall thanks to the sedan variant (92% of its sales).
Model-wise, the podium is identical to the YTD ranking with the Fiat Egea in the lead (+25%) ahead of two high performing Renaults: the Megane (+63%) and Clio (+59%). The VW Passat (+43%) means the entire Top 4 is vastly outperforming the market. The Ford Courier is stable in 5th lace above the Fiat Fiorino (+65%) while the Nissan Qashqai almost doubles its sales year-on-year (+95%) and is up 15 spots on September to #8 vs. #17 YTD. The Ford Focus (+35%), Audi A3 (+35%), Peugeot 301 (+55%) and Audi A4 (+68%) also impress inside the Top 30, as do the Peugeot 3008 (+83%), Nissan Micra (+123%) and Ford Kuga (+881%) in the Top 50. Now that the Toyota C-HR is over 1 year old, the Skoda Kodiaq (#88) dominates recent launches above the Audi Q2 (#99) and Opel Crossland X (#100), their relatively low rankings illustrating the lesser attraction towards SUVs the Turkish market is showing.
