Colombia June 2020: Toyota Corolla (+103.6%), Chevrolet Onix (+41.9%) stun in market down -38.5%

Toyota Corolla sales more than double year-on-year in Colombia in June.

11/08 update: Now with Top 30 brands.

20/07 update: Now with Top 30 models.

The Colombian new vehicle market drops another -38.5% year-on-year in June to 11.981 units, pulling the year-to-date tally down -37.7% to 72.395 halfway through 2020. Brand leader Renault (-44.6%) falls faster than the market but retains the top spot at 22% share above archenemy Chevrolet (-21.9%) at 19.7%. Toyota (-10.7%) scores the best hold of any Top 10 carmaker and lifts to #3 and 8.3% share vs. #6 and 6.9% so far in 2020. All other Top 10 brands bar Mercedes (-33%) underperform with Ford (-55.8%), Volkswagen (-51.3%), Nissan (-49.5%) and Suzuki (-48.8%) hit the hardest and Mazda (-42.1%) and Kia (-45.9%) also struggling.

The Chevrolet Onix (+41.8%) posts another market-defying surge to hold onto the models top spot (as it does in Brazil and Argentina), distancing a very impressive stretch of 5 Renaults: the Kwid (-31.9%), Sandero (-57.9%), Duster (-47.6%), Logan (-53.5%) and Sandero Stepway (-48.3%). The Mazda CX-30 drops 6 spots on May to a still remarkable 8th place, now ranking #13 YTD, while the Toyota Corolla (+103.7%), Hilux (+18.7%) and Foton BJ (+18%) post the only additional year-on-year gains in the Top 20.
