Colombia June 2019: Renault (+30.7%) annihilates Chevrolet (-10.4%) monopolises Top 5 models

The first generation Renault Duster is still on sale in Colombia.

New vehicle sales in Colombia leap up 6.4% year-on-year in June to 19.489 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 2.4% to 116.210. Renault (+30.7%) shows exceptional strength to cement its brand leadership at 24.4% share, almost 10 percentage points above its archenemy Chevrolet (-10.4%) posting one of only three double-digit drops in the Top 15. Mazda (+4.5%) can’t quite match the market but remains at an excellent third place, distancing Nissan (-19.7%), Kia (-6.1%) and Toyota (+9.1%). Below, Hyundai (+33.9%), Mercedes (+33.2%), Suzuki (+28.6%) and Honda (+18.2%) impress while among smaller brands Changan (+202.8%), Peugeot (+76%), Fiat (+66.4%), Citroen (+53.8%) and Mitsubishi (+33.9%) are among the most dynamic.

As this is the way sales are split in Colombia, we have decided to report Sandero and Sandero Stepway sales separately from this month onwards. As a result, Renault brilliantly monopolises the June Top 5 with the Sandero (+9.7%) in the lead ahead of the Logan (-17.7%), Duster (+37.3%), Sandero Stepway (+9.3%) and Kwid (new). The Mazda2 (+86.5%), Chevrolet Beat (+55.4%) and Kia Picanto (-32.2%) follow.
