Switzerland November 2019: Market edged up 0.5% by 4×4 (+14.9%), EVs (+63.8%)
Audi Q3 sales soar 453.6% thanks to the new model.
New car sales in Switzerland edge up 0.5% to 24.228 units in November, leading to a year-to-date tally up 1.6% to 276.641. However 4×4 sales soar +14.9% for the month to 13.446 and 55.5% share vs. 48.5% in November 2018, and are up 5.3% YTD top 140.115 and 50.6% share vs. 48.9% over the same period in 2018. Electrified vehicle sales jump 74.9% this month to 3.601 and 14.9% share vs. 8.5% a year ago – including 783 EVs (+63.8%) – and are up 75.4% YTD to 33.389 and 12.1% share vs. 7% in 2018.
Volkswagen (+10.6%) cements its lead in the brands ranking at 11.3% share, distancing Mercedes (+5.9%) posting another strong month at 10.1% of the Swiss market vs. 8.6% so far this year. BMW (-3.4%), Skoda (+15.6%) and Audi (+37.7%) replicate the October and YTD Top 5. Dacia (+30%) surges to #9, its highest ranking in Switzerland since July 2017, with Seat (+21.1%) and Renault (+14.8%) also very solid in the Top 10. Further down, Tesla (+342.6%), Porsche (+239%), Ssangyong (+91.5%), Mazda (+24.8%), Kia (+24.6%) and Honda (+19%) are among the most dynamic.
The Skoda Octavia (-10.6%) holds onto the top spot in the models ranking despite a steep fall, distancing the VW Golf (+2.3%), Mercedes GLC (+22.2%) and VW Tiguan (+15.9%) in a repeat of October’s Top 4. The Skoda Kodiaq (+131.5%) posts its third Top 5 finish in history after March (#3) and April (#5), while the Skoda Karoq (+68.9%), Ford Kuga (+60.5%) and BMW 3 Series (+32.3%) also secure very significant raises in the remainder of the Top 10, as do the Audi Q3 (+453.6%), Dacia Duster (+164.5%), Audi Q5 (+135.8%), Mercedes GLE (+89.3%) and Renault Captur (+64.2%) further down.
