Switzerland October 2019: Mercedes GLC on podium in market up 14.5%

The Mercedes GLC is up to #3 in Switzerland in October.

The Swiss new car market bounces back up 14.5% year-on-year in October on weak year-ago post-WLTP volumes to 26.103 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 1.7% to 252.413. After a two-month interruption by Mercedes (+10.7%), Volkswagen (+31.8%) reclaims the brands pole position with 11.1% share, while BMW (+32.4%) returns to the #3 spot it holds YTD. In fact the Top 7 brands are back to their YTD order, with Skoda (+40.8%), Audi (+11.1%), Seat (+114.8%) and Ford (-12.3%) in tow. Peugeot (+28.4%) also outpaces the market in the remainder in the Top 10, while further down Tesla (+437.1%), Chevrolet (+428.6%), Dodge (+200%), Porsche (+180.2%), Lamborghini (+120%), Citroen (+73.5%), Ssangyong (+56.4%), Mazda (+53.3%) and Dacia (+33.2%) also impress.

In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+18.1%) easily remains in the top spot, with the VW Golf (+21.4%) up 5 spots on September to #2 ahead of the Mercedes GLC (+17.3%) up 13 ranks to #3 and the VW Tiguan (+1.9%) remaining at #4 but holding onto its #2 YTD spot. The BMW X1 (+80.2%) shoots up 18 spots to #5, the Skoda Karoq (+91.5%) is up 3 to #6, the Skoda Kodiaq (+1462.5%) down one to #7 and the Suzuki Swift (+72.5%) up 16 to #9.
