Taiwan October 2019: Toyota RAV4 topples Corolla YTD in market up 17.1%

The Toyota RAV4 is now #1 YTD in Taiwan.

New car sales in Taiwan soar 17.1% year-on-year in October to 41.040 units, yet the year-to-date tally remains in negative for now at -1.1% to 353.207. Brand leader Toyota (+52.9%) delivers a sumptuous gain to reach 29.1%, its highest in Taiwan since December 2016 and well above the 23.6% it commands year-to-date. Toyota is not alone in shining this month: in the Top 5, sister brand Lexus (+38.1%) as well as Mercedes (+20.8%) also impress while further down in the Top 10 Ford (+50%) and BMW (+44%) stun.

The Toyota RAV4 (+150.9%) tops the Taiwanese charts for the third month running, earning the YTD top spot and dislodging the Toyota Corolla Altis (+44.2%) while the Nissan Kicks is back on the podium, towering above the other new launches in market (<12 months): the Lexus UX (#29), Toyota Hilux (#44), Skoda Kodiaq (#45) and Mazda CX-30 (#53) new for the month. The Ford Focus (+226.6%), Lexus NX (+73.1%), Toyota Vios (+55.8%), Mercedes GLC (+47.6%) and Mitsubishi Delica (+36.1%) also shine in the Top 15.
