Chile July 2018: Chevrolet back in charge, Chinese up 50%

Chevrolet reclaims the brands top spot it holds YTD.

The Chilean new car market gains 11.4% year-on-year in July to 31.285 registrations, leading to a year-to-date volume up 22.4% to 233.415 units. Chevrolet (+11%) follows the market and rebounds back up four spots on June to the pole position it holds year-to-date, distancing Kia (+14%), Suzuki (+26%) and Nissan (-8%) in difficulty. Volkswagen (+51%), Mazda (+17%) and Toyota (+13%) also shine inside the Top 10, while further down Opel (+900%), Maxus (+218%), Changan (+178%), Lifan (+118%), MG (+116%), the Chrysler Group (+111%), Lexus (+67%), Foton (+66%), Land Rover (+56%), Skoda (+55%) and Volvo (+45%) all surge ahead. As a whole, Chinese carmakers continue to vastly outperform the market with sales up 50% in July to 13.9% share vs. 12.6% YTD. The Chevrolet Sail (imported from China) tops the models ranking ahead of the Kia Rio, Toyota Yaris and Kia Morning, with the YTD leader the Mitsubishi L200 down to #5
