Chile August 2026: Toyota at record 11% share, monopolises the podium

Toyota RAV4 sales are up 123% in August.

The Chilean new light vehicle market edges up 1.6% year-on-year in August to 27,896 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 3.1% to 206,192. Toyota (+30.2%) posts a splendid YoY lift to easily dominate the brands ranking with 11% share which is beloved to be a new record for the carmaker, previous best being 10.4% in April 2023. Hyundai (+6.6%) stays at #2 with 8.8% share vs. 7.1% so far this year, with Kia (+20.1%) and Suzuki (-13.6%) at opposite ends of the YoY spectrum and ensuring the Top 4 is unchanged on last month. Mazda (+38%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10. BYD (+81.8%), Foton (+61%), DFM (+57.9%) and Jetour (+47.5%) are among the best performers below.

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+36.5%) repeats at #1 and also snaps the #1 YTD ranking off the Mitsubishi L200 (-30.6%) in the process. In fact Toyota monopolise the podium with the RAV4 (+123%) up 16 spots on July to #2 and the Raize (+26.6%) also up 16 ranks to #3. The Hyundai Creta (+78%) is up to #4 vs. #17 year-to-date followed by the Hyundai Grand i10 (-4.6%). The Mazda CX-5 (+97.1%), Kia Sonet (+38.1%), Ford Ranger (+27.6%) and GWM Jolion (+23.7%) also post fantastic scores below. Notice also the Jetour X50 up to #22 and cracking the YTD Top 30.
