Lebanon Full Year 2017: Toyota Prado & Land Cruiser on top, Datsun #10

The Lebanese new car market is down 2.7% year-on-year in 2017 to 50.820 registrations. The Top 5 best-selling carmakers remain unchanged on 2016: Toyota (+9%) improves its share to 33%, but Kia (-7%), Nissan (-21%), Hyundai (-4%) and Renault (-18%) all lose ground. Below, Suzuki (+18%), Mazda (+12%) and Chevrolet (+11%) impress but it’s Datsun that posts a stunning performance: directly at #10 with 1.7% share for its first full year in market. Further down, Land Rover (+69%), GMC (+48%), Honda (+44%), Jaguar (+34%), Citroen (+27%) and Infiniti (+24%) post some of the most spectacular year-on-year gains for 2017.

In the space of one year, Datsun has become a Top 10 brand in Lebanon. 

The Toyota Prado is the best-selling vehicle in Lebanon for the 2nd year running with deliveries shooting up 40% thanks to the new models to hit a gargantuan 12.1% share. It is followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser up 28% to 10.6% while the Kia Picanto is up one spot but down 10% to #3. The Kia Rio (+5%), Toyota Yaris (-48%), Hyundai i10 (-13%) and Nissan Patrol (-31%) follow. The Renault Duster is up 41% to #13, the Datsun mi-DO ends its first full year in Lebanon at a splendid 18th place while the Nissan Kicks (#21) and Toyota C-HR (#24) top the list of 2017 new launches, ahead of the Suzuki Baleno (#33), Mazda CX-3 (#43), Datsun on-DO (#48) and Range Rover Velar (#67).
