Croatian new car sales are up 5% year-on-year in 2015 to 35.715 units, still a fair distance from the 88,265 units registered in 2008. Volkswagen remains the most popular carmaker by far, even slightly outpacing the market at +6% to 16.2% share while #2 Opel is down 2% to 10.3% and #3 Skoda down 8% to 8.6%. Reversely, Renault is up 30% to #4, Dacia up a smashing 82% to #7, Kia up 45% to #8 and Suzuki up 131% to #11, mainly thanks to the instant blockbuster status of the all-new Vitara, ranking within the monthly Croatian Top 10 from August onwards and rewarded with a #18 annual ranking from the get go.
The Suzuki Vitara is an instant blockbuster in Croatia.
After being overstepped by the Skoda Octavia in 2014, the VW Golf reclaims the title of #1 best-seller in Croatia it held back in 2013 thanks to sales up 4% to 1.939 units. It is followed this year by the Opel Astra (+10%) and Renault Clio (+81%) while the Octavia falls 3 spots and 31% to #4. The VW Passat (+69%), Ford Focus (+51%), Dacia Sandero (+89%) and Kia Cee’d (+51%) lodge spectacular year-on-year gains, all inside the 2015 Top 10. We also welcome the Seat Leon (#12), Skoda Fabia (#14) and Dacia Duster (#15) in the Top 20, while the Hyundai Tucson lodged a fantastic third place in December and should rank inside the 2016 Top 10.
