The new car market situation is fast deteriorating in Russia with June sales down a horrid 17% year-on-year to 199,398 units which brings the year-to-date total to 1,229,839, down 8% on 2013. AEB doesn’t see the market rebounding any soon with H2 sales predicted to be down another 16% with the Full Year 2014 projection now standing at 2.45 million units, down 12% on 2013. In the models ranking, the Lada Granta leads again but is down a surprising 24% on June 2013 while the Hyundai Solaris, launched almost one year prior, is stable year-on-year in 2nd place and therefore gains significant market share vs. June 2013.
The Kia Rio rounds up the podium with a strong 4.4% share (+8%), the Lada Largus confirms the all-time high 4th spot it reached last month, the Renault Logan continues to improve thanks to the new generation up 18% to #7 as does the Nissan Qashqai up 73% to #8. Other great performers include the Toyota Camry up 6 spots on May to #11, the Kia Cee’d back inside the Top 25 at #16, the Mazda CX-5 up to #23 vs. #37 over the Full Year 2013 and the VW Jetta up to #24 vs. #35. Finally, we welcome the Skoda Rapid inside the Russian Top 20 at #20 with 2,341 sales and 1.2% share for its 2nd month in market.
Brand-wise, Lada performs a little worse than the market at -19% to 15.1% share, however the 4 next manufacturers outperform the market: Kia at #2 (-3%) followed by Hyundai (-1%), Renault (-13%) and Toyota (-11%). Nissan is up a spectacular 33% in 6th place, Mitsubishi is up 5% to #11, Mercedes up 11% to #12, Lexus up 24% to #25 and Jeep up 57% to #34. Reversely, Chevrolet (-47%), Ford (-53%) and SsangYong (-50%) crash and burn. Among recent newcomers, ChangAn remains at #46, JAC is up 5 spots on May to #48 and Luxgen up 3 to #54.
