New car sales in Russia accentuate their fall in May at -12% year-on-year to 201,487 registrations, now bringing the year-to-date total to 1,030,533 units, down 6% on 2013. The Lada Granta stays atop the models ranking and behaves like the market at -11% to 12,947 sales and 6.4% share. Only issue is the entire Top 10 bar one car (the VW Polo at -12%) does better… The Hyundai Solaris continues to lodge very robust scores month after month at 9,791 units and 4.9% (-7%) while the Kia Rio keeps on improving in third position with 8,513 sales and 4.2% (+7%). Quantum leap for the Lada Largus up to a best-ever 4th place with a record 7,448 sales and 3.7%, up 41% on May 2013 and smashing its previous bests of #6 (October 2013), 5,889 units and 2.6% share (both in April 2014).

The Renault Duster rounds up the Top 5 once again, passing the Lada Kalina (-1%), and remains #4 year-to-date. Boosted by the new generation finally spreading in Renault dealerships across the country, the Logan is up 4 spots on April to #8 with 5,130 sales, its best ranking in Russia since January 2013, the Nissan Almera lodges another very impressive month at #9 and 4,456 units and the Nissan Qashqai reappears inside the Russian Top 10 for only the third time ever after November and December 2013, potentially due to the previous generation in runout mode and the new gen landing.
