Finally some good news for new car sales in Croatia: up 19% year-on-year in July to 3,224 registrations, the third consecutive month above 3,000 sales and the first year-on-year gain since February 2012! Volkswagen is ultra-dominant this month with over 24% market share and 11% for Skoda, it smells like a large order of rental cars just in time for summer… The VW Golf leads the way for the 4th time so far in 2013 thanks to 300 sales and a huge 9.3% share, followed by the VW Polo at 183 units and 5.7% and the VW Up! brilliantly back inside the Top 20 at #3 with 166 sales and 5.1%. Now remember VAG’s distributor in Croatia, Auto Zubiak, also owns the biggest car rental business in the country – Oryx Rent…
The VAG Group in fact places 4 models in the Croatian Top 4 this month with the Skoda Octavia up 15 spots on June to #4, plus the Skoda Rapid makes its very first appearance in the Top 20, directly at #6 with 79 sales and 2.5%, the Skoda Citigo does so for the first time this year at #13 and the Seat Leon appears at #19… Kia is the other carmaker to excel in July: the Cee’d is back from the dead (meaning outside the Top 20) up to #5 and is now #16 year-to-date, the Sportage is up 6 ranks to #10 and the Rio is up to #22.
