New car sales in Taiwan are up an encouraging 7% year-on-year in June to 32,579 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 182,327 units, down 2% on 2012. No surprise in pole position: the Toyota Corolla hangs on even though the new generation was unveiled worldwide this month, selling more than twice as much as its closest competitor at 3,341 sales and 10.3% share, adding up to 17,997 and 9.9% year-to-date. The 2nd place is shared by the Toyota Wish and the Nissan Livina (potentially boosted by runout pricing before the arrival of the new model), both selling 1,567 units for a 4.8% share.
Below the Nissan Tiida at #4 and 4.6%, the Honda CR-V impresses and is up one spot on May to #5 with 1,437 sales and 4.4%. Notice also the Ford Focus up one rank to #9, the Mitsubishi Colt Plus up 3 to #10 and the VW Golf up 7 to #22. Finally, local manufacturer Luxgen places its entire range inside the Top 40 this month: the Luxgen 5 Sedan is #35 ahead of the 7 SUV at #36 and the 7 MPV at #37.
