France 1-27 May 2013: Citroen C4 and Dacia Sandero up

After 27 days in May, the French new car market is down 11% to 104,150 registrations. The Peugeot 208 is still in the lead thanks to 6,244 sales and 6% share, well ahead of the Renault Clio IV at 4,644 units and 4.5%. The Citroen C4 brilliantly gains one rank compared to last week to take the third spot with 2,696 sales and 2.6%, up 6% year-on-year. If it holds this ranking until the end of the month it will be the C4 nameplate’s very first podium finish since its original launch in November 2004, beating the #6 it reached in October 2005, August 2006 and February 2007. The Dacia Sandero is also up one spot to #4 at 2,555 units and 2.5%, up 51% year-on-year, followed by the Peugeot 3008 (-8%) and Citroen C3 (-36%).

I’m glad to see Renault with 3 model in top 10. In my personal opinion Renault has ever been the most inovative French car company. They have top safety results in EuroNCAP tests, they have first family EVs together with Nissan Leaf. The new Clio 4 is great in the city and not so good on a highway, but it’s a nice looking car.
