Belgium January 2013: BMW up 60% to #2 above Volkswagen!

The Belgian new car market starts the year extremely well, up 13% year-on-year in January to 50,684 registrations. If Renault is leader like in January 2012 with 4,658 sales and 9.2% (+6%), the second most popular carmaker is a massive surprise: BMW is up a huge 60% year-on-year to 4,583 units and 9% share, better than in its native Germany where it reached #3 and 8.5% this month! This BMW is now above Volkswagen, down to #3 with 4,464 sales and 8.8%.

Peugeot (+9%), Citroen (+3%) and Opel up an excellent 24% follow. Further down, Hyundai is up 79% to #9 at 2,227 units and 4.4%, Toyota up 29% to #11, Fiat up 121% to #15, Kia up 30% to #16, Dacia up 46% to #17, Mazda up 79% to #20 and Land Rover up 37% to #21. Notice also Fisker at #36 with 7 units sold this month.
