Belgian models data is very rare to come across and after going through an exclusive Top 338 All-models ranking for November 2012, I am now able to share with you for the first time on BSCB the Top 20 most popular lease cars in Belgium for the Full Year 2012. A little weird as we still don’t have an overall models ranking for this country for 2012 but hey, it’s better than nothing, no? If the VW Golf dominates the general ranking, the Renault Megane is the most popular with lease companies at 9,048 sales vs. 7,263. But in fact the Renault Scenic should hold the pole position: in this ranking it is split between the Scenic and Grand Scenic versions at 4,932 and 4,236 sales respectively, adding up to 9,168.
BMW 5 Series
The BMW 3 Series rounds up the podium at 6,509 units vs. #9 overall, and is followed by big sis the BMW 5 Series with 5,972 sales vs. #12 overall. The next 4 models also rank much higher with lease companies than in the general ranking: the Audi A4 is #5 vs. #15, VW Passat #6 vs. #16, BMW 1 Series #7 vs. #10 and Mercedes C-Class #8 vs. #19. Notice also the Fiat 500 at #10 vs. #17, Audi A6 at #13 vs. #34, Peugeot 508 at #17 vs. #35 and Volvo V60 at #20 vs. #45.

I think we both read the same …
But the Scenic you mentioned is similar to the VW Touran.
I read, on BSCB: Germany, #1: “VW Golf/Plus/Jetta”
But okee, another approach:
Add up Scenic and Grand Scenic (which Matt suggested in the Belgium Nov ’12 lease ranking)
In this case it would total 9148 (versus 9048 for the Megane)
“VW does”? VW does not count Golf and Touran (“VW Scenic”) together …
In Germany Golf, Golf+ and Jetta are counted together, but this mistake is done by the german Kraftfahr-Bundesamt (which puiblishes the official german statistics) and not by VW. In the other countries these models are listed extra.
Image if you add the Megane + Scenic + Grand Scenic numbers, like VW does with the “Golf + derivatives” (and Renault itself often does): 18.216 units. Huge!
