Qatar November 2012: Hyundai Santa Fe and Lexus LX impress

The Qatari new car market is up a very robust 17% year-on-year in November to 6,681 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 75,625 sales, up 34% on 2011. The Full Year 2011 figure (62,346) was passed during the first week of October… October highlights included the Toyota Land Cruiser reclaiming the top spot for the first time since last March at 9.9% share, the Mitsubishi Pajero up to #7 vs. #37 year-to-date, the Kia Rio up to #8 vs. #27 and the Chevrolet Sonic at #25. In November, the Land Cruiser is in pole position for the 5th time in 2012 with 767 sales and an excellent 11.5% share. Its 2012 total now amounts to 7,736 units and 10.2%, a safe margin above the Toyota Hilux at 6,791 sales and 9%.

Lexus LX

The biggest event in November in Qatar is the outstanding 2nd place of the Hyundai Santa Fe, boosted by the new generation. It sells 417 units for an incredible 6.2% market share, to be compared to 3.5% year-to-date – now the best-selling non-Toyota in the country at #5 – and 1.6% in 2011… The other great performer this month is the Lexus LX, up 5 spots on October to a fantastic 4th position thanks to 236 sales and 3.5% vs. 2.6% (#7) year-to-date and 1.5% (#14) in 2011.

Porsche Cayenne

Further down, notice the Hyundai Tucson up 4 to #11, the Porsche Cayenne up 3 to #13 vs. #21 year-to-date, the Honda City up 13 to #15, the Mitsubishi Lancer also up 13 to #18, Ford Edge up 37 to #21, Ford Focus up 32 to #23, BMW X5 up 53 to #30, Kia Sorento up 15 to #34, Ford F-Series up 3 to #36 vs. #68 year-to-date, Chevrolet Malibu up 21 to #39 and the Dodge Durango up to #47 vs. #112 YTD.
