New car sales in Qatar slow down their growth in December, up ‘only’ 12% year-on-year to 6,650 registrations, which brings the Full Year 2012 total to 82,274 units, up a massive 32% on 2011. December highlights include the Ford F-Series up 30 spots on November to #6, the Hyundai Accent up 18 to #10, Nissan Altima up 25 to #12, Mitsubishi Lancer EX up 73 to #23 and Peugeot 207 up to #25.
Over the Full Year, the Toyota Land Cruiser manages to stay in pole position for the 2nd year in a row with 8,250 sales for a round 10% share but the fight was tight with the Toyota Hilux, #2 at 7,053 units and 8.6%. Both models are up 39% on 2011 and both topped the monthly ranking 6 times this year, with a peak of 1,127 sales in March for the Land Cruiser and 1,116 in May for the Hilux… This year Toyota monopolises the Qatari podium: the Prado is up a magnificent 135% to #3 with 3,523 sales and 4.3%. It is followed by the Hyundai Santa Fe up 201% and 8 ranks to 2,950 units and 3.6%.
The Lexus LX also impresses, up a huge 141% and 7 spots to #7 with 2,208 sales and 2.7%. Notice also the Nissan Patrol up 60% to #8, Nissan Sunny up 185% to #8, Hyundai Tucson up 111% to #15, Porsche Cayenne up 114% to #19, Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up up 106% to #24, Honda CR-V up 125% to #35, Ford F-Series up 194% to #43, Ford Taurus up 351% to #46, Ford Expedition up 193% to #8 and Chevrolet Sonic up 867% to #50 for its first full year in market.
