The Czech car market is down 2% year-on-year in March at 17,064 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 43,529 units, up 4% on 2011. No surprise on top: the Skoda Octavia is #1 with 2,081 sales and 12.2% followed by the Skoda Fabia at 1,221 units and 7.2%, possibly its weakest share ever in its native country.
Produced locally since January 17 in Nošovice, the second generation Hyundai i30 takes off this month, up 3 spots on February to land on the podium for the second time in the last 5 months with 547 sales and 3.2%. The Hyundai i30 is one of just 3 non-Skoda models to have managed a 3%+ market share at least once in the last year with the Ford Focus (4.5% last June) and the VW Golf (3.2% last May)…
Other great performers in the Czech Top 10 this month include the Renault Thalia up 9 ranks to #4, the Ford Fusion also up 9 spots to #6, the Hyundai ix20 up 2 ranks to #8 and the Nissan Qashqai holding itself within the Top 10 for the 2nd time ever at #9. The Kia Rio breaks the 1% share barrier at #24, the Ford Kuga is up to #30 and the Skoda Citigo is down a worrying 18 spots to #34.
